Houseguests

It came to me in the night, that I didn't give credit to the person whose idea it was to get the puppy, who looked high and low for the puppy, trains the puppy, and takes the puppy with him to the ranch every single day.  It's her dad.  And that sweet baby Clare doesn't stray too far from her new dad.  In fact, she is a bit of a cuddler.  Here is a normal scene.

So that was finishing up yesterday's business.  High-five to him for talking me into it.

This summer we have a fairly different routine.  We have houseguests!  If you know us, you know that our youngest son and his wife will be leaving for Amsterdam around the first of August.  Our son is entering a dual masters program at the University of Amsterdam -- I'll spare you the lengthy and wordy name of the program, but it is film archival.  After their lease ran out in the college town, they moved here, already having jobs in place, and are living with us and my D.I.L.'s parents until their departure.  Who knew having a couple of extra adults in the house could be so much fun!

See?  They graduated from college in December -- that was early, so we patted them on the back, told them how proud we were, and said, "keep on working, see ya!"

So they did, and they are, and while they are here, they are working to save for this adventure abroad.  These two are pretty thrifty.  They will figure it out.

My D.I.L. has a blog, and I am so glad, because I feel like we will be able to follow what they are doing, and the seasons changing, and all things Amsterdam, from two, young twenty-somethings.  And one of my favorite parts of them going there, is that I haven't seen much of Europe, or the Scandinavian countries, either.  So... guess who already has a trip planned for later this year?  Oh, and did I mention that I am going WITH them when they make the move in August?  They might need me for something.

Okay, I know they really won't need me, but I don't pass up too many opportunities to travel.  And don't think that when my son said, "Amsterdam," I didn't think the exact same two things you thought.  Being the open-minded adults we all are, we are focusing on the amazing museums, churches and canals of the city.  I had no idea what the city had to offer, but oh. my. goodness.  We are going to see architecture and works of art of which we have only heard.
