We have accomplished quite a lot as far as getting the kids relocated and into another country and culture. There is a meeting at the University on Friday that will help them get the final details in place -- but at this point, they have done about all the preparatory work they can do. I mentioned yesterday the stairs, and I have come up with an estimate. This may not be enough to count as actual exercise, but I am going to guess that we have done near 30 flights on most days. At the time, it feels like a lot. But I never got to play football and run stairs, so I don't know if that is an exceptional amount. Add in the couple or four miles of general walking, surely that's good for something.
I wish so much that we had this mode of transportation at home... It is my favorite way to move about here. Very clean, efficient, on time -- no complaints. It is super nice that someone (G) tells me what platform to go to, where to check in with my uber-modern chip card, and what stop to get off of the train. Some places the train moves at 80-90 miles per hour, and we are even in a tight area. I wonder if out in the countryside, it may travel faster. It goes everywhere. Even into other countries. We are still getting our feet wet, so that hasn't been part of our itinerary yet.
The countryside is very flat, and for some reason, I didn't really expect that.

It was really cool to be up close and personal with so many fine works of art. I have never...

Just some things we have seen...
And here is the little street in Amsterdam-Zuid that we have been calling home. G clears up most of the pronunciations for me, so I would like to think that my Dutch is improving. I'll show you when I get home.
